For my upcoming solo show in November the theme is cocktails. Some of these will be fairly straightforward paintings of well known cocktails. Though simple in subject some of these little guys are gonna be bears to paint believably. So these studies help me work out ideas surronding the drawing, color, and placement of the drinks in the picture frame. A bit looser in style than the finish piece, they are a critically important step in getting a finished piece that I (and hopefully someone else) am happy with.

-A more unusual cocktail. . . but a beautiful one to look at. Here’s the recipe:

• 1 oz Elderflower Liqueur (St Germain)

• 1/2 oz Dragonfruit Puree

• 2 oz Vodka

• squeeze Lemon juice

• 1 oz Simple syrup
