#10 Chocolate Jell-o

A year or so ago I picked up a set of vintage Jell-O tins from an antique store. Like many of the objects I collect to paint, they sat patiently in my still life closet waiting for their turn. Eventually their number was called, and this painting was born.

Chocolate Jell-O — or chocolate gelatin — was surprisingly popular decades ago, though over time it seems to have been overshadowed by the more familiar fruit flavors. This piece is a small nod to that forgotten bit of kitchen nostalgia.
