A new little painting inspired by a recent trip to St. Augustine.
There were hundreds of these little laughing gulls prowling the beach, but this one caught my attention. He (or she) seemed to be standing perfectly still for the longest time, almost as if taking a moment for some beachside meditation.
I loved the stark whites and blacks of the feathers against the smooth greens, blues, and yellows of the thin ocean water just beginning to reveal the sand. It felt like a quiet little moment worth painting.
